With a new roster coming into Monday Night Raw after this year’s Draft, and no challengers firmly established for Big E and his WWE championship, the promotion had to go about the process of finding one on this week’s episode in Houston.
Seth Rollins, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, and Kevin Owens all pitched themselves as former champions with the kind of resume that should net them a chance. Of course, that was just a set up for the chance to earn a chance. Indeed, Sonya Deville quickly hit the scene to book a Fatal 4-Way — turned into a Ladder match in the interest of, well, making it more interesting — with the winner earning “a future title opportunity.”
The match was certifiably bonkers, as expected, with spots like this.

Everyone took a big bump or did something crazy, notably Owens who went crashing through a bridged ladder out of the ring, but ultimately it was Rollins who remained at the end of the carnage. That means he’ll be next to challenge Big E for the WWE title, though they didn’t announce when exactly that will be.
