The Mysterios set up shop on Raw tonight (Oct. 25), having been moved from the blue to the red brand in this year’s WWE Draft. Rey isn’t so sure keeping him and his son Dominik on the same show was the right call, though.
The legendary luchador told Bleacher Report:
“We did talk about [the possibility of being split up]. I said, ‘If we eventually get split up, then it was meant to be. You go your way, I’ll go mine.’ At the same time, it would’ve given my son some independence to grow on his own. Pretty much the story we were telling right before we got drafted to Raw. It was in the back of our minds, but it wasn’t anything we were worrying about. If anything, it probably would have been good. It’s a change.”
As Rey mentions, a split would have continued the angle they’ve been working on SmackDown, where Dom and his dad haven’t been on the same page for a while. Putting them on different shows would have been a logical way to advance their storyline without having them feud - something Rey has repeatedly said he doesn’t want.
But they’re still together on Raw, so we’ll see how the Mysterios and WWE creative play things from here.
