With no baseball playoff game to broadcast tonight (Oct. 23) thanks to the Houston Astros finishing off the Boston Red Sox in the American League Championship Series last night, FOX will air an encore edition of SmackDown at 8pm ET.
Which is, of course, when the new episode of AEW Dynamite will be on TNT.
Welcome to the battle of Saturday night, I guess.
The fight between Rampage and SmackDown on Fri., Oct. 15, where both shows went head-to-head on cable for 30 minutes, resulted in AEW outperforming WWE in the key demo while being outpaced in overall viewership. Those numbers were apparently much discussed behind the scenes at WWE. Unless they weren’t.
They were definitely bantered about online, and one of the people featured in that banter is kicking things off already about tonight’s showdown - and she’s not using anyone’s else’s catchphrase this time!

Though it’s a replay, FOX’s reach is much greater than any cable network. Between Brock Lesnar’s storyline suspension and the alleged real world tension between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, there’s also a considerable amount of online buzz about the most recent SmackDown.
Dynamite is set to feature Cody Rhodes vs. Malakai Black, and several first round matches in their World Title Eliminator and TBS Championship tournaments.
Should be an interesting night!
