WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR OCT. 22
Dark red speck, colossal wreck, the arc crashes into the rocks. The fragile are broken and smothered, children are torn from their mothers. The dumb and cruel establish rule, life is how sinners are punished, but me, I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with a recap of Roman Reigns defending the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar yesterday in Saudi Arabia.
Reigns makes his entrance, flanked by Paul Heyman as usual.
He gets on the mic and asks Heyman if he’s holding the title for him or for Brock, ‘cause when he put his hand out he did the right thing with the mic, but last night he just threw the title in the ring. He demonstrates how it’s supposed to work and says it’s pretty easy, right?
He tells Paul that he’s not great at his job, but he’s the best of the best and he’s carried the title for over a year as Tribal Chief and Head of the Table, the greatest Universal Champion of all time. He’s smashed everyone even just starting from Mania— Daniel Bryan, Edge, Cesaro, Finn Balor, John Cena, and your boy Brock Lesnar.
And thinking of Brock, what’s this he said about SmackDown today? The moment he arrives at SmackDown he’s going to beat Roman senseless? Reigns slaps the mic out of Heyman’s hand and observes that he whooped Lesnar so bad that he’s Tweeting now. This is his show and he’s not going anywhere, so he doesn’t mind whipping Brock’s ass two days in a row.
He’s not leaving this ring until Lesnar comes down, he says, and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Roman is still waiting and still on the mic, calling Brock out.
Eventually, after much threats and posturing...
Enter Brock Lesnar.
He hits the ring and freight trains Reigns, clotheslining him out of the ring! He throws him into the steel steps and stalks after Paul Heyman! Brock picks up the steps and smashes Roman with them, before clearing the announce desk, fireman’s carry— THE USOS MAKE THE SAVE!
Lesnar throws them over the barricade but that gives Roman time to recover, Brock accosts a cameraman and throws the camera at Reigns, shattering it against the ringpost! He beats up some road agents, five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce sends the roster down!
Brock throws a bunch of them around while the Bloodline retreats, before heading into the ring and holding the title high to send us to break.
Back from commercial, we get a recap of what we just saw.
Five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce is in the ring.
He talks about how dangerous Brock is and informs us all that due to his actions tonight, he’s suspending Lesnar indefinitely.
Brock comes down to threaten him and ask him for clarification, putting Adam in the corner before F-5ing him! Another one for good measure! Lesnar goes and grabs the mic and asks Pearce to tell him again, claiming he didn’t hear him.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get a recap of what we just saw.
Sonya Deville is backstage on the phone.
She dodges an interview but she cannot dodge Naomi. She tells Naomi that it’s not about her and to get out of her face, which she does.
Deville turns to see Drew McIntyre.
He says it’s his first night on the job as the SmackDown Warrior but he’s gonna do her a favor by going to the ring and issuing an open challenge to see who on Friday night has the balls to challenge him.
Drew McIntyre makes his entrance.
He says he doesn’t care if you’re a viking or a maharaja, he wants your ass out here so he can kick it.
Enter Sami Zayn.
He says he’s the longest-tenured member of the SmackDown roster and something of a locker room leader, and Drew might be a former WWE Champion, but as far as he’s concerned, he’s a newbie on SmackDown. But if you’re looking for someone brave enough to fight him, here he is.
Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn
Zayn keeping his distance, McIntyre follows him to the floor and throws him into the barricade as we go to break.
Back from commercial, Zayn with an elbow, repeated covers, he argues with referee Ryan Tran when none of them turn into a victory. Right hands, jawing at McIntyre, Drew slams him into the corner and lays into him with kicks and chops before belly-to-belly suplexing him across the ring!
Big lariats follow, whip reversed and right into the belly-to-belly suplex! Neckbreaker into the kip-up, lying in wait, Sami rolls to the floor and counters by snapping McIntyre’s neck over the top rope! Blue Thunder Driver blocked, clubbing overhand elbows, setting him up and lying in wait, 3... 2... DREW TAKES HIS HEAD OFF WITH THE CLAYMORE BEFORE SAMI CAN FINISH IMITATING HIS COUNT!
Drew McIntyre wins by pinfall with the Claymore.
We get a quick Hit Row vignette and then see crew setting the ring up for the coronation of King Xavier to send us to break.
Back from commercial Kofi Kingston is in the ring to introduce King Xaiver Woods for his coronation.
Woods makes his entrance, trombone in hand.
Kofi puts the cloak on him and tells him that it will give him protection. He presents him the scepter, and informs him it’s the source of his power that will help him rule his kingdom. And of course, thy crown, which serves as the physical representation of the respect that Xavier has earned as king, long live his reign.
Kingston places the crown on his pal’s head and regal fanfare plays.
Woods says he can’t express how much that means to him, and to the WWE Universe, we showed him love and turned his dream into a reality, and he thanks us. He says his reign will be fun but fair, and for these fine people in Wichita, Kansas, they shall have an opportunity to hear the king’s gospel.
Kofi reads off Xavier’s official salutation and bids us hail King Woods.
Becky Lynch cuts a promo backstage.
She says maybe instead of a title exchange tonight, Becky Two Belts should make a comeback.
Mansoor makes his entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, we get a vignette for Xia Li, who is “coming soon.”
Mansoor vs. Mustafa Ali
Going hard out the gates, trading strikes with abandon, whip across, big back body drop and a clothesline sends Ali to the floor! Chasing him around and back in, rolling away from an elbow drop, another back body drop to the floor! Right hand, back inside, diving crossbody for two!
Pulling Mansoor into the ropes gets Mustafa his first separation of the match, he goes up top, diving sunset flip lifted into a Liger Bomb... NOPE! Neckbreaker blocked, Mansoor hits a Tiger suplex! Duck the first lariat, the second takes him off his feet, a cover...
Mansoor wins by pinfall with a Superman folding press.
Ridge Holland cuts a promo from backstage.
He talks about how he’s used to fighting on the street and now he’s brought his truncheon to SmackDown.
Aliyah gets a promo where she says she’s giving SmackDown a makeover and it’s gonna be a whole lot more bougie.
Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo cut a promo about how attractive they are.
Sheamus is in a green hallway and says nobody delivers in the ring like he does.
Hit Row make their entrance.
B-FAB asks for the music to cut and says she knows we’ve all heard about Hit Row, and Top Dolla says they’re three MCs and one producer. They all get a turn introducing themselves, and if you didn’t know, now you know.
And now we go to break.
Hit Row (Isaiah “Swerve” Scott & Top Dolla) vs. Enhancement Talent (??? & ???)
It’s a squash match...
Hit Row win by pinfall with a kick-assisted side slam.
We get a recap of the show’s first couple segments, including Brock Lesnar’s suspension.
Sonya Deville is interviewed backstage about Adam Pearce’s medical status.
She says he’ll be okay but he’s no spring chicken and she offered to be the one to tell Brock that he was suspended, but he insisted, and the show must go on.
Rick Boogs plays Shinsuke Nakamura in and we go to break.
Back from commercial we get a media hype reel for Crown Jewel.
Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss get an inset promo where Corbin says he’s gonna beat Nakamura and Moss has another silly joke.
Happy Corbin vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Corbin in control early but Nakamura gets a sliding dropkick and the momentum! Trading strikes, Shinsuke with knee lifts, Happy gourdbusters him over the ropes and to the floor to send us to break!

Float over, duck the roundhouse, Happy with a big awkward slam, both men down and out as Rick plays strength back into Nakamura! Counter a chokeslam with a knee, lying in wait, Moss cuts Boogs off and Shinsuke hits the floor to save his buddy. Corbin throws him into the steel steps, back inside...
Happy Corbin wins by pinfall with End of Days.
Charlotte Flair gets a quick promo backstage to hype up the title exchange.
We get a recap of the women’s three-way in Saudi Arabia.
Becky Lynch makes her entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Charlotte Flair makes her entrance, joining Becky Lynch and Sonya Deville in the ring.
Deville explains that seeing as both women are still champions but they’ve switched brands, they need to exchange titles and go to their respective new brands as women’s champion.
Neither woman seems particularly in a hurry to hand her title over, but after a long beat Flair takes her title off.
Lynch tries to yank it out of her hands but Charlotte drops it, leading Sonya to pick it up and try to exchange it. Becky throws the SmackDown title at her, Flair picks it up and holds it high before saying if she wants to be Becky Two Belts so bad, why not winner takes all tonight?
Enter Sasha Banks.
She says she runs the blue brand and Flair mocks her for feeling left out.
Lynch says she’s gonna go to Raw and let them figure it out and she’ll see one of them for Survivor Series.
Becky asks Charlotte if she’s jealous, and title or no title, she’s the Boss around here. Flair mocks her some more, a brawl breaks out, Charlotte blocks the lungblower and runs away! Sasha with Meteora off the apron, Sonya Deville breaks it up!
That’s the show, folks.
