Doudrop defeated Natalya, then Shayna Baszler to advance to the final of the Queen’s Crown tournament on the right side of the bracket. On the left side, Zelina Vega defeated Toni Storm, then Carmella. That set up Doudrop vs. Vega at today’s (Thurs., Oct. 21, 2021) Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to determine the first ever Queen’s Crown winner.
Congratulations to Zelina Vega!
There was plenty of criticism of WWE for how much time was given to each of the matches in this tournament compared to the King of the Ring, as the total of each of the previous six matches came out to just over 13 minutes. Here, Vega and Doudrop were given nearly double the time of any other match in the tournament, as the match clocked in at 5:50.
In something of a surprise, it was Vega, who has been working heel, being painted as the underdog overcoming a major size disadvantage to score the victory. She’ll be moving over to Monday Night Raw starting next week, a Queen freshly crowned.
