I need a little bit of help, dear reader. I must confess that I have zero idea what WWE is going for with this Duke Hudson character.
Consider:
He’s an expert poker player. Okay. Check. Might as well call him “The House” because he always wins. Check. His room is always open because he’s always open to taking sucker’s cash. Check.
Question: what does any of that have to do with pro wrestling?
I see no crossover between the two. Poker is a game of statistics, chance, and getting a good read on your opponent. Pro wrestling is about beating people up. There’s not even really any lessons you can take from the poker table to the wrestling ring. Confidence, maybe? That’s not unique to poker, though.
Last week, he was carrying around a poker chip in the ring. I have no idea why or what they were going for with that. How does that help him? Is he getting a leg up on his opponents in matches because they know he could beat them in a game of Texas Hold ‘Em?
I just don’t get it. Help me out.
