Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott loses the North American championship ... to Carmelo Hayes

@WWE

When Hit Row was called up to the main roster by way of being selected by Friday Night SmackDown in the WWE Draft, it seemed as though Isaiah “Swerve” Scott’s days as North American champion were numbered. Sure, he could work both shows, or take the strap with him to the blue brand, but there was no reason to believe they would do that.

There was even less reason when a match was booked pitting Scott against Santos Escobar for the main event of NXT TV this week with the title on the line. Then, early in the day, an angle was shot featuring Legado Del Fantasma kidnapping members of Hit Row to ensure Scott would have to work the match all by his lonesome.

The end result of all this?

Swerve pinned Escobar clean after Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams hit the scene to ensure Legado Del Fantasma couldn’t get involved.

Of course, it was a calculated move. Hayes laid Scott out after the match, then revealed a contract for a title match. It was the contract he was awarded for winning the NXT Breakout Tournament.

Naturally, he took advantage, beating Scott in short order.

We have a new champion after all.
