During an interview before this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Charlotte Flair made clear she’ll be entering the Royal Rumble match this year:
Ahead of tonight's #WWERaw, #TheQueen @MsCharlotteWWE officially enters the #RoyalRumble Match and promises to defy the odds once again! pic.twitter.com/re1LAZcO9h— WWE Network (@WWENetwork) January 4, 2021
“Sarah, the advice I’d give to the women is: don’t listen to the critics. Last year I wasn’t a favorite to win and you know what I did? I defied the odds and I won the Royal Rumble in 2020. That’s why I’m going to declare myself in the 2021 Royal Rumble and defy the odds again.”
Flair won the Royal Rumble last year before going on to WrestleMania 36 and defeating Rhea Ripley to win the NXT women’s championship. This year, she goes in, most likely, as one half of the women’s tag team champions alongside current Raw Women’s Champion Asuka, who she already teased a title match against. There’s a story to be told there.
Follow along with Raw tonight here to see how they go about telling it.
