WWE Royal Rumble 2021 results: Belair sets a record & heads to WrestleMania

For a main event opportunity at WrestleMania 37, an eventful 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble match ended as a Triple Threat many felt should have happened at WrestleMania 36.

Rhea Ripley & Bianca Belair teamed up to eliminate last year’s winner, Charlotte Flair.

They almost simultaneously eliminated each other, then agreed to slide back under the lower rope for a proper showdown. There were numerous scares, but after following a KOD with a clothesline, The EST was a made woman. She entered third and set a record by lasting more than 56 minutes en route to pointing at the ‘Mania sign.

A tearful Belair shouted out her Mom & Dad while interviewed by Kayla Braxton in the ring, then headed off to celebrate her big night and reflect on what was arguably the best Women’s Rumble in the events short history.

Other notable moments:

  • This was Naomi’s first match since last August, when she was Sasha Banks & Bayley’s opponent in a Beat The Clock challenge on SmackDown.
  • This was cool...
  • Headshot/resumés in hand, Billie Kay took a seat at the announce table to await a partner she could enter with. Shotzi’s declined her offer of a headshot/resumé by firing a shot from her tank’s cannon at Kay. This was a theme that continued for a while, until Billie & Jillie (the returning Jillian Hall) formed!
  • This, and all things Victoria, was awesome:
  • Outside of the Legends returns, Kay’s teammates were a big early theme. Peyton Royce wanted an IIconic reunion, but Billie was torn because she’d been trying to work with Ruby... that didn’t work out well though.
  • Ric Flair’s music played for Lacey Evans, and Charlotte asked for the center of the ring so she could beat the robe off Evans.
  • R-Truth tried to enter right after Alicia Fox, was naturally followed by the 24/7 title scene, and eventually pinned by Foxy to lose the belt. Truth won it back right after Alicia was eliminated, and she joined the chase of him out of the arena.
  • Reginald saved Carmella from one elimination before Tamina knocked him old cold and caused him to drop her on the second one.
  • Naomi’s signature save involved pulling herself up from Bianca’s hair after The EST caused her to land flat on her back on the floor. They teamed up to rock back up to the apron.
  • Bray Wyatt’s friend tried to transform into her Fiend form after everyone jumped her, but Rhea threw her over the top before she could.
  • The new Women’s Tag champs teased turning on each other several times before Nia tossed her partner, then Lana got some more payback by baiting Jax into a charge then pulling down the top rope while evading a charge. After being eliminated they beat up Nattie and others before leaving.
  • Natalya baited Lana into an elimination by checking on her before attacking her from behind.
