The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 31, 2021, at the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, the company’s annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to either the Raw (World) or SmackDown (Universal) championship for the men, and either the Raw or SmackDown women’s title for the women.
We’re still a month out from showtime, and here’s what is set so far:
- Men’s Royal Rumble match
Daniel Bryan was first to announce he’ll be in the match, followed by current United States Champion Bobby Lashley.
- Women’s Royal Rumble match
Nia Jax declared her intentions to enter on Monday Night Raw this past week, and was officially announced just after. Shayna Baszler hinted that she would be doing the same but that hasn’t been officially announced just yet.
The only word going around about a possible match beyond those two is Randy Orton vs. The Fiend in a Firefly Fun House match. Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens are still going at it, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they had a match here as well.
