WWE Royal Rumble 2021 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 31, 2021, at the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, the company’s annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to either the Raw (World) or SmackDown (Universal) championship for the men, and either the Raw or SmackDown women’s title for the women.

We’re still a couple weeks out from showtime, and here’s what is set so far:

  • Men’s Royal Rumble match

Here’s who is officially in the match as of now: Daniel Bryan, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Otis, The Miz, Cesaro, Jey Uso

  • Women’s Royal Rumble match

Here’s who is officially in the match as of now: Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, Bayley, Mandy Rose, Dana Brooke

  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens (Universal championship Last Man Standing match)

This was originally set as Reigns vs. Adam Pearce, who Roman basically ensured would get the match before manipulating the contract signing to make it a Last Man Standing match. Pearce then exercised his power as a WWE official and took himself out for not being medically cleared, replacing himself with Owens.

  • Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Goldberg (WWE championship)

Goldberg returned on Legends Night to say he wants a shot at McIntyre and the title he’s holding. McIntyre agreed to the challenge the next week, though he did so after revealing he is currently dealing with COVID-19. Assuming there are no issues there, he’ll be back in time for the match.

Sasha Banks vs. Carmella has been talked about as a possible match while Big E and Apollo Crews have also been going at it.
