Within minutes of her return to WWE television last month at TLC 2020, Charlotte Flair was once again wearing championship gold around her waist. Winning championships has been a regular occurrence for Flair over the last six years. Outside of Becky Lynch, it’s hard to think of any woman in WWE who has received a bigger push than Flair, and certainly no woman has been pushed longer than Flair.
While defending her WWE booking on Twitter, Flair offered this straightforward explanation for why she’s always on top of the mountain:
I am in the title picture, and I will always be in the title picture. It’s one of those unfortunate side effects of excelling at something; you wouldn’t understand— Charlotte Flair (@MsCharlotteWWE) January 14, 2021
Fans who are frustrated with Flair’s dominating presence on WWE television might not be too happy to read that, but it’s clear that Vince McMahon thinks she is a bigger star than just about everyone else.
That being said, it’s worth noting that Flair actually framed herself as an underdog when she declared for the Royal Rumble a couple weeks ago on Raw. Here’s what she said at the time:
“...don’t listen to the critics. Last year I wasn’t a favorite to win and you know what I did? I defied the odds and I won the Royal Rumble in 2020. That’s why I’m going to declare myself in the 2021 Royal Rumble and defy the odds again.”
Do you think underdog grand slam champion Charlotte Flair will be part of the title picture at WrestleMania 37 after pulling off the impossible and miraculously winning another Royal Rumble match on Jan. 31?
