NXT spent a lot of time on the TakeOver 31 go home show telling us how everything is great with Undisputed ERA.
And I mean A LOT OF TIME.
Ahead of his shot at NXT champion on Sunday’s show, Kyle O’Reilly got the Prime Target video package treatment on his road to WWE. It focused almost as much on O’Reilly’s friendship with Adam Cole as it did on his martial arts training.
These guys really mean the World to me and the Kool Kyle you know and love wouldn’t exist without @AdamColePro @roderickstrong and @theBobbyFish #Undisputed https://t.co/kQk5cAOcI1

Then Cole called out and beat Austin Theory for disrespecting Kyle, taking time before and after the match to tell the world how he knew his friend would beat Finn Bálor for the belt this weekend.
"Kyle O'Reilly was BORN ready... On Sunday at #NXTTakeOver, @KORcombat is gonna the world, but he's not gonna me."#UndisputedERA forever. #WWENXT @AdamColePro pic.twitter.com/eAC9vCDAV9

Shawn Michaels hosted a face-to-face with O’Reilly and Bálor where the challenger talked about how the ERA always have each other’s backs. When HBK asked if maybe Cole wouldn’t have an issue with KOR doing what he couldn’t three weeks ago - beat Finn to become NXT champ - Kool Kyle dismissed it. It was ridiculous for anyone to think there would be tension within the ERA.
The "non-existent power struggle between #UndisputedERA?"

In the words of @KORcombat, it's LAUGHABLE. #WWENXT #NXTTitle @FinnBalor pic.twitter.com/kY4WtjqDKN
It was around that time that the longest reigning NXT champ in history tweeted this:
Kyle has worked his ASS off for years. And Sunday at Takeover, Kyle will get what he deserves. There is nobody who has your back more than me...nobody...@WWENXT @KORcombat

Now, there’s a chance NXT is laying it on thick as a form of misdirection. But whether or not Cole does betray O’Reilly on Oct. 4, I expect a lot of drama around the possibility that he might.
Triple H and Shawn do love to book main event epics (see: the Gargano/Ciampa and Gargano/Cole sagas).
