WWE originally planned to have Asuka defend the Raw women’s championship against Zelina Vega on the Kickoff show at tonight’s (Sun., Sept. 27, 2020) Clash of Champions event from the ThunderDome at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. That changed when multiple matches were scrapped altogether due to a few wrestlers not receiving medical clearance.
So Asuka vs. Vega was bumped to the main card while Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro vs. The Lucha House Party for the SmackDown tag team titles was moved to the Kickoff.
The story coming into the match was less about Lucha House Party winning the titles and more about whether or not they would break up, as the trio have been going after each other in recent weeks.
The story of the match itself was Kalisto and Lince Dorado working well together as a cohesive unit, with no issues among them, and that just not being enough in the end anyway. They teased a change, with multiple near falls, but in the end Kalisto ate the Kinsasha while in the Cesaro Swing.
That was that.
