NWA women’s champion Thunder Rosa will be challenging Hikaru Shida for the AEW women’s championship this Saturday, Sept. 5, on their All Out pay-per-view. Up to this point, the build for their championship match has largely taken place with hype videos and taped promos, but not much between the ropes.
Rosa finally stepped into an AEW ring tonight (Sept. 2) on Dynamite in a match against another wrestler making her AEW debut, former WWE wrestler and Performance Center coach, Serena Deeb. Deeb was released by WWE in April as part of their profit-ensuring budget cuts during the early part of the coronavirus pandemic.
This match was nothing like the quick tune up that Chris Jericho had against Joey Janela earlier in the night. Rosa and Deeb went back and forth throughout, with neither wrestler budging an inch, and commentary talking up Deeb’s chance of earning an AEW contract or even a future shot at Rosa’s NWA women’s championship.
Rosa ultimately picked up the win with her Thunder Driver.
Do you think she’ll be able to do that again against Shida at All Out?
