NXT ratings, viewership up on Tuesday

WWE.com

There’s a lot of interest in how the Sept. 1 episode of WWE NXT performed, for a variety of reasons. We’ll get into those in a second, but let’s give you the numbers.

Per Showbuzz Daily, NXT checked in with 849,000 viewers and a .26 rating point in the 18-49 demographic.

That’s a 25K increase in audience size over last week’s show, just off their best of 2020 viewership from two weeks ago. It’s the best rating the show’s done in the key demo this year. It also helped NXT shoot up into the top ten among cable original on the night.

Sept. 1 was a Tuesday - not the show’s regular night. That meant WWE’s black-and-gold brand ran without pro wrestling opposition for the third straight week, as AEW Dynamite gets Wednesday all to itself this week. It also comes as rumors are swirling there may be discussion behind-the-scenes about permanently moving NXT off of Wednesdays.

Not much here to say WWE and USA Network shouldn’t consider switching nights. USA’s NHL coverage will again bump NXT to Tuesday next week (Sept. 8), and if these numbers hold or climb, expect to hear more talk about the end of the Wednesday Night War.

Interesting times...

Here’s a breakdown of NXT’s viewership and rating in the 18-49 demo:
