WWE Raw viewership back to normal against Monday Night Football debut

Monday Night Football is back on ESPN, which means WWE gets to deal with its annual stiff competition for Monday Night Raw. Numbers are down across the board, to be fair, with both football games doing much worse than last year.

Raw, meanwhile, went back to normal, as this week’s show drew 1.69 million viewers, down slightly from last week’s 1.72 million. The hourly breakdown did its usual thing:

Hour one: 1.81 million
Hour two: 1.73 million
Hour three: 1.53 million

The Wrestling Observer reports the key 18-49 demographic was actually up, so there was at least some encouraging news. Perhaps the “IN YOUR FACE” gimmick combined with the promotion of a steel cage match and a Raw women’s title bout actually worked to draw some increased interest there.

Either way, this is likely the norm for WWE in the months ahead.
