Women’s tag team title match announced for Clash of Champions

The confusing breakup of The IIconics came about after they put their partnership on the line against Ruby Riott & Liv Morgan for a shot at the women’s tag team titles at a future date. High risk, high reward and all that.

That later date, not surprisingly, has been announced as the upcoming Clash of Champions pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., Sept. 27, 2020, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. It’s unclear why they didn’t simply announce as much right away, but here we are.

Here’s how WWE is selling it:

Jax & Baszler’s seeming inability to get on the same page may be The Riott Squad’s key to victory at Clash of Champions. The titleholders’ bickering already cost Baszler a 2-on-1 Handicap Match against Riott & Morgan. Will they be able to get it together when the titles are on the line?

The updated Clash of Champions match card:

  • Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship)
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso (Universal championship)
  • Bayley (c) vs. Nikki Cross (SmackDown women’s championship)
  • Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler vs. The Riott Squad (Women’s tag team championship)
