Miro, formerly known as Rusev in WWE, made his debut on AEW Dynamite this past week (Sept. 9). During his debut promo, he referenced being held down by the glass ceiling in WWE, and told them to take their brass ring and shove it up their ass.
On his Saturday Night Special podcast, Chris Jericho takes credit for adding that line to Miro’s promo, and he also says that WWE will regret releasing him:
“[Miro] mentioned, kind of indirectly, WWE. You know, glass ceiling, and brass ring, and take the brass ring and shove it up your ass. That was my line. He couldn’t believe he would be allowed to say it. He’s like, ‘Really, can I say it?’ I’m like, yeah you can say whatever you want here. No problems here, baby. And then we leave it there. We don’t go back. And this is not a place that’s constantly bashing anybody else. I mean obviously when you come from another company, when you come from WWE, you have to acknowledge the fact that you came from there. You know what I mean? You have to acknowledge the fact that there is a history there. But other than that, you say your piece and you move on.
I think it’s great to have him. I’ve always been a fan of his, and I think he’s another guy that for some reason, whatever reason, kinda fell through the cracks there, that they’re gonna regret letting go. But we got him, and we’re excited.”
Jericho also offers some clarity behind Miro’s gimmick in AEW. He’s not just the Kip Sabian’s Best Man for the upcoming wedding with Penelope Ford:
“It’s not just a one-shot deal. It’s a gimmick. He’s the best man. He’s the best man at everything. It could almost be like a Mr. Perfect thing.”
Do you agree with Jericho that WWE will regret their decision to release Rusev?
