The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the SummerSlam show set to take place on Sun., Aug. 23, 2020. The show was originally to be held in Boston but the coronavirus pandemic has forced the company to change locations. No replacement venue has been named at this time, though Atlantic City is rumored.
We’re just two weeks away from showtime and here’s what is on for the show:
- Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship)
Orton decided he wants to come after the WWE title once more, and McIntyre is the current champion who has been saying he’ll fight anyone who is deserving of a chance. The program took a personal turn on Raw this past week, as the two used some reality for material in promos.
- The Street Profits vs. Andrade & Angel Garza (Raw tag team championship)
Andrade & Garza have lost very recently to the champions but they won a triple threat to get this chance. Most recently, Montez Ford was poisoned, and there’s been no real update on him since.
- Apollo Crews (c) vs. MVP (United States championship)
They had a match for the title on Raw after not getting to have one at Extreme Rules, and Crews solidified his status as champion. MVP wanted an immediate rematch and got one.
- Seth Rollins vs. Dominik Mysterio
Dominik wasn’t going to let someone take his dad’s eye out, so he’s here to fight Rollins.
- Bayley (c) vs. TBA (SmackDown women’s championship)
Stephanie McMahon announced a triple brand battle royal for SmackDown this week to determine who will challenge Bayley for her title. No participants have been revealed as of this writing.
That’s all that’s official so far.
Asuka will wrestle Bayley on Raw this week and a victory would give her a match against Sasha Banks for the Raw women’s championship. All signs point to her getting that match. Meanwhile, Braun Strowman challenged Bray Wyatt to a match at this show but WWE has yet to announce it.
