During an interview with the Gorilla Position, Seth Rollins was asked for his thoughts on Raw Underground and had this to say:
“Hey, man, it’s outside the box, you know? Obviously, like I said earlier, our audience is different, they’re begging for something different all the time, something new, something fresh. So I think my verdict on it is kind of TBD. Like, let’s see what happens, you know? It could end up being ridiculous in a bad way or it could end up being ridiculous in a good way. Who knows?
I think obviously in the first week it got people’s attention — we jumped up a little bit in our viewership, which is great. And so now can we keep the ball rolling? We’ll see. I had no idea what to expect when I saw it on the sheet. When I watched it back I was not entirely offended by it, especially as something that is really a brand new idea in its infancy. Obviously you’re going to make adjustments to it and figure it out along the way. I’m open to seeing what it becomes as time goes on. Like I said, who knows? To be determined. In 2020 anything can happen. I’m obviously hoping for the best.”
Considering Rollins has assumed the role of the PR arm of the WWE roster in the past, it’s actually refreshing to see him give such an honest opinion on a new venture the company clearly has high hopes will help turn ratings around. I’m having trouble arguing with his position. This could be the most ridiculous thing, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
It could be great!
We shall see indeed.
