Randy Orton may have lost to Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam, and he may have lost to Keith Lee at Payback, but he’ll be wrestling for the WWE championship at Clash of Champions on Sept. 27, 2020, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, nonetheless.
That’s assuming McIntyre is medically cleared.
That’s what we learned on Monday Night Raw this week, where WWE booked three singles matches leading to a triple threat between the winners that would determine McIntyre’s next challenger. Those matches went like this:
- Keith Lee def. Dolph Ziggler
- Randy Orton def. Kevin Owens
- Seth Rollins def. Dominik Mysterio
This led to Lee vs. Orton vs. Rollins, where the latter two hatched a plan to work over Lee before turning on each other and trying to take advantage whenever one was available. That ultimately ended up going the way of Orton, who jumped in the ring just after Lee put Rollins down with the Spirit Bomb and hit him with an RKO.
He jumped over Lee, however, and instead pinned Rollins.
So far, McIntye vs. Orton is the only match official for Clash of Champions.
