Apollo Crews is still your United States champion

WWE

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, despite all the late promotion for Shane McMahon’s return and a new faction hitting the scene, opened with a United States championship match pitting MVP against Apollo Crews. They introduced the latter as the champion, a point commentary put over as important considering the advantage the reigning titleholder has with regards to disqualifications and what not.

This was driven home by interference from The Hurt Business during the match.

That interference — which wasn’t shown and occurred during a commercial break — did nothing to sway the match. Ultimately, Crews scored the pinfall to secure the victory, cementing himself as the true U.S. champion.

In the spirit of as much, he took the title MVP introduced at Extreme Rules and walked out with both of them. Crews confirmed after the match that he’ll be keeping the new title going forward.

MVP, meanwhile, demanded a rematch for the title at SummerSlam.
