WWE replaced a legitimately compelling episode of ‘Miz TV’ with a six man tag match

WWE.com

Last week on Talking Smack, The Miz and Big E got into a heated argument over issues related to Kofi Kingston, opportunities in pro wrestling, and how those in WWE have dished out those opportunities. That argument played on real life issues and left many wondering if it was a work or a shoot.

This is pro wrestling, so either way it was going to end up on television. Sure enough, WWE quickly announced E would be a guest on Miz TV on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown. This was intriguing, both because it would certainly give us a compelling segment while also advancing Big E’s story, which is quickly becoming a quest to win a major singles title himself.

It was, in short, a reason to be excited for SmackDown.

So, naturally, WWE replaced it with a six man tag team match that saw Miz and John Morrison squad up with Sheamus to take on the team of Big E and Heavy Machinery. The match was fine, and it doesn’t mean WWE won’t eventually get around to digging deeper into this story, but they were advertising Miz TV with Big E all the way up to the show and then changed it to something much less interesting once the show was already on the air. Then, in the eventual match, Big E just pinned Miz in the middle of the ring and that was that.

Maybe another time.
