WWE SUMMERSLAM LIVE BLOG & MATCH COVERAGE
One baby to another says I’m lucky to have met you. I don’t care what you think, unless it is about me. It is now my duty to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The pre-show panel tonight consists of Charly Caruso, Booker T, Renee Young, John “Bradshaw” Layfield, and Peter Rosenberg, and they get to the usual pre-show business. Zelina Garza and her boys are interviewed and once again she denies that she poisoned Montez Ford.
Apollo Crews (c) vs. Montel Vontavious Porter (WWE United States Championship)
Collar and elbow, Porter right into a kneebar out the gates but Crews gets the ropes. Trying for a pin, no dice, Montel bails out to the floor and calls for a time out. Back inside, Apollo throwing dropkicks, arm drag into an armbar, MVP sidesteps a charge after and Crews falls out of the ring and into the steel steps!
Walking the champion around the ringside area, smashing his face into the commentary desk, back inside to break the count. Whip across, running in for a big boot but Apollo sidesteps! Up top, Porter cuts him off and hits a superplex off the second rope! Both men rattled, MVP over for the cover, only a nearfall!
Crews clotheslines him to the floor, off the ropes... TOPE CON GIRO! Referee Darrick Moore counting... BOTH MEN BACK IN AT THE COUNT OF NINE! On their knees, trading forearms and rising to their feet, Apollo unloads on him and backs him into the corner! Ripping his nose strip off, charging in, Stinger Splashes!
Spinning spinebuster, standing moonsault... NOPE! Playmaker attempt from Montel, Apollo counters...
Apollo Crews wins by pinfall with the delayed Blue Thunder Driver to retain the WWE United States Championship.
Post-match, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley come to ringside to attack Crews but he gets away and stands tall on the stage.
The pre-show panel wraps things up by discussing the rest of our matches.
The main show kicks off with a party-themed video featuring all of our big matches tonight.
Asuka vs. Bayley (c) (WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship)
Circling, collar and elbow, Asuka with an arm wringer, palm strikes to the head, off the ropes, drop down, roll over, hammey Bayley with a dropkick! Chest kicks follow, off the ropes, sliding kick, German suplex blocked, Asuka gets a grounded octopus hold! Bayley manages to get the ropes and force the break, Asuka fired up, sliding kick to the champ’s legs!
Snap her arm over the middle rope, off the ropes, hip attack blasts Bayley off the apron! Asuka follows it up with a jumping DDT off the steel steps! Back inside, cover for two! Bayley comes back by snapping the Empress’ neck over the middle rope and putting boots to her. Straight suplex, a two count, and the champ follows it up with a reverse chinlock.
Punches against the ropes, elbow drop, cover for two. Asuka blocks an Irish whip, fighting over it, Bayley-to-Belly... ASUKA KICKS OUT! Fired up, sidestep the charge, shoulder block, off the ropes, shoulder block, tossing Bayley into the corner, running hip attack! Alarm Clock knee strike, German suplex, sliding hip attack... STILL NO!
To the apron, trading strikes, hip attack caught, leg trap... BAYLEY HITS A SHINBREAKER ON THE APRON! Asuka fighting back into it, up top, missile dropkick but Bayley sidesteps and grabs a kneebar! Sunset flip powerbomb puts the Empress into the turnbuckles, the champ goes up top for a diving elbow... ASUKA CATCHES HER INTO A CROSS ARMBAR!
Sasha Banks yellling from the apron, Asuka breaks the hold and kicks the Boss away! Bayley to the floor, Asuka follows and hits Uraken, Banks with the distraction, champion with a schoolboy... NOPE! Asuka with a hip attack, Bayley sidesteps and Sasha takes it...
Bayley wins by pinfall with a small package to retain the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Post-match, Sasha attacks Asuka and beats her down!
Backstage, Dominik Mysterio asks his father to let him handle this on his own so he can be a man.
Rey agrees, and they embrace.

Street Profits get an inset promo where they say that Zelina Vega clearly poisoned Ford and they’re gonna retain the tag titles.
Andrade “Cien” Almas & Angel Garza vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) (c) (WWE Raw Tag Team Championship)
Almas and Ford to start, Montez goes behind, back elbow to break, knee lift, hanging the champion up in the ropes. Off the ropes, float over, leaping lariat and Ford is starting to feel it! Boot up in the corner, but Montez snaps off a Frankensteiner from a dead leap! Dawkins in, double flapjack on Garza and the hcamps are fired up!
Ford with a tope con giro but Vega’s boys catch him and powerbomb him on the floor! Tag made, dumping Ford to the apron, Garza blasts him with a dropkick! Following after, jawing at him, drawing him up, back inside, cover for two. Putting Montez up in the turnbuckles, he kicks himself free but Angel dropkicks his knee and takes his pants off!
Rolling Ford over, tag made, armbar applied but Montez fights to his feet and Andrade cuts him off. Quick tags, heat segment in full effect, tree of woe double stomp gets a nearfall! Montez with an enzuigiri, duck under, tag made! Dawkins cleans house, spinning Stinger Splash, but Almas wipes him out! Tags made, Ford with a diving crossbody but Garza rolls through!
Foot on the ropes for the pin but referee Eddie Orengo catches it! Slugging it out, forearm for superkick, Ford knocks Zelina down! Wing Clipper, float over, tag made, Cash Out! Ford up top...
Street Profits win by pinfall with a frog splash from Montez Ford on Angel Garza to retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship.
Bayley and Sasha Banks are interviewed.
Bayley isn’t having it with this “gotcha journalism” but nothing’s gonna ruin this magical night for them, and she cedes the floor to Sasha. She says if Bayley can beat Asuka, she knows she can, too.
Mandy Rose vs. Sonya Deville (No Disqualification Loser Leaves WWE Match)
Deville with a shove, Rose off the ropes with a knee, no dice, right to the floor. Brawling on the floor, smashing Sonya’s face into the steel steps, pulling her up to the ramp and suplexing her into it! Smashing her face into the ringpost, the back of her head, right hands before throwing her hard into the barricade!
Mandy standing on the announce table, coming off with a diving lariat and into mounted punches! She sets up a table at ringside but it gives Deville time to get a chair and come back by whacking her in the midsection with it! Jawing, smashing her face into the announce table a few times, taking her back in the ring for some kicks and a running knee... NOPE!
Takedown into punches, Rose fighting back into it, Sonya gets away to the corner but Mandy’s able to come running into her. Running knee caught, Deville with a standing Dragon sleeper, falling back and sinking the hooks in! Mandy breaks free, Sonya with disdainful slaps and trash talk, Rose fires back with a big right and forearms!
Action to the floor again, Mandy smashes Sonya’s face into the announce table a few times, setting her on the table but she rolls off before Rose can visit whatever violence she had planned down upon her! Back under the ring, throwing chairs at Deville, and Sonya kicks her so hard they both go down!
Back inside, underhooks, Angel’s wings blocked and Deville hits a hard knee! Underhooks over her own but Mandy lands on her feet and hits her hard with a knee strike! Another one! A third! Drawing her up, underhooks... ANGEL’S WINGS! ANOTHER KNEE! IT’S OVER!
Mandy Rose wins by pinfall with a knee strike, forcing Sonya Deville to leave WWE.
Post-match, Otis Dozovic comes running down to celebrate with his lady.
Dominik Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins (Street Fight)
Circling, Rollins with a go-behind, taking Mysterio down and riding him as sort of a “welcome to wrestling, kid” opening beat. Test of strength, fakeout into a headlock takeover, Seth doing Pro Wrestling 101 here, shrugging Dominik off when he goes for a side headlock of his own. Collar and elbow, Rollins with another side headlock, shoulder armbreaker, Mysterio with some striking and a satellite arm drag!
Back roll, arm drag, arm drag, roll-through into a kip-up and the kid is rolling! Seth puts boots to him in the corner, draws him up, scoop and a slam! Rollins asks Buddy Murphy for a kendo stick but Dominik dropkicks him before he can use it! He grabs the kendo stick and gives chase as Seth heads to the floor!
Back inside, Rollins gets right on him with clubbing blows and stomps! Hard whip to the corner, straight suplex into a Camel Clutch, staring right at Rey Mysterio as he cranks his son’s neck and smashes him face-first into the mat! Punches beget a Sling Blade, grinding his knee into Dominik’s face and wrenching at his arm!
Mysterio on the back foot but he dodges Blackout and fires up, satellite DDT out of the corner... NOPE! Lighting Seth up with kendo stick shots, heading up top, jockeying for position... SUPERPLEX ROLL-THROUGH INTO THE FALCON ARROW! Rollins thinking about his next move, kendo stick in hand and he wallops Dominik again and again with the stick!
Seth yells for Buddy to get a table out and his disciple obliges, sliding a table into the ring. Rollins sets iup and gets a kendo stick before dragging Dominik over and hitting him a few times for good measure. Setting him up top, climbing after him, kendo stick in hand, jawing at Rey, and this gives Dominik an opportunity... AVALANCHE WHITE RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP THROUGH THE TABLE!
FROG SPLASH JUST LIKE UNCLE EDDY BUT SETH KICKS OUT! Looking for a chair but Seth catches him with a superkick before planting him with a powerbomb! Rollins gets the kendo stick again and starts blasting Dominik with it, prompting a worried Rey Mysterio to get up on the apron but he gave his word and he’s staying out of it!
Buddy Murphy passes Rollins a pair of handcuffs! Seth drags Dom over to the ropes, taunting Rey the entire time... AND ANGIE MYSTERIO COMES DOWN THE RAMP! Mysterio tries to talk sense in her but the delay gives their son time to get away! Buddy follows out after him and tries to take Dominik’s eye on the steps! REY MYSTERIO ATTACKS MURPHY!
Rollins cuts him off and they beat him down! They fend Dominik off as he tries to save his dad and go right back to beating the legend down! THEY HANDCUFF REY TO THE ROPES! SETH MOVES ON ANGIE AND DOM BLASTS HIM FROM BEHIND TO SAVE HIS MOM! HE THROWS BUDDY OVER THE BARRICADE AND ROLLINS INTO THE STEPS KNEE FIRST!
A back body drop when Murphy runs in... 619 over the apron takes Seth out! Back inside, Rollins in position... 619! Headed up top... THE KNEES WERE UP ON THE FROG SPLASH! Seth holds Dominik’s head, begging Rey to reach for his son... BLACKOUT! IT’S OVER!
Seth Rollins wins by pinfall with Blackout.
Asuka vs. Sasha Banks (c) (WWE Raw Women’s Championship)
Circling, Banks attacking the leg right out the gates, looking for a leg pick but Asuka gets hold of her head and throws Kawada kicks! Block a right hand, kicks to the midsection, a thrust kick knocks Sasha down and the Empress hits a sliding forearm that sends her to the floor to regroup with Bayley.
Banks goes to walk out but Asuka takes her back to the apron whereupon the Boss hits a sliding kick on her! Powerbomb blocked, Asuka transitions to a kneebar on the floor! Sasha gets away and rolls back inside, Asuka follows and biels her into the corner for the running hip attack! Snapmare, Banks gets a leg and stomps her to force a break.
To the apron, Asuka follows and throws kicks against the post... SASHA DUCKS ONE AND ASUKA KICKS THE RINGPOST HARD! SUNSET FLIP POWERBOMB OFF THE APRON AND TO THE FLOOR! Back inside, Banks drawing her up and jawing, smashing her face into the turnbuckles and putting boots to her after. Choking her, wicked pump kick to the side of the face, cover... NOPE!
Dragging her into the corner, shoulder thrusts, overhand clubs, putting the Empress into position for the corner double knees but she gets out and gets under her! Electric chair facebuster into a a kneebar! Shift to an ankle lock, Banks reaching and desperate and finally she rolls her through! Up top, jockeying for position... ASUKA WITH A DIVING DDT!
Banks to the floor, Asuka realizes she can’t win like that and goes after her! Putting her into the barricde, throwing her back inside, headed up top and the Empress hits a missile dropkick for two! Fighting in the corner, Banks with upkicks, cover... NOT ENOUGH! Putting boots to Asuka, heading up top, frog splash... NO WATER IN THE POOL!
Conferring with Bayley, who reassures her that Asuka’s leg is done for and she’s the greatest, charging in... ASUKA WITH THE FLYING ASUKA LOCK! Banks pries the bodyscissors open and gets to her feet! Fighting off the second attempt, into a pin and then into the Bank Statement crossface! Rolling her bafck into the middle of the ring... ASUKA REVERSES BACK INTO THE ASUKA LOCK!
Banks to her feet, slinging her challenger aside, Asuka comes back with a kick and both women are staggered and low. Bayley up on the apron, sidestep the hip attack, Uraken takes her out, the Boss tries to go back to the Bank Statement but Asuka reverses! Asuka Lock on in the middle of the ring, reaching, desperate...
Asuka wins by submission with the Asuka Lock to win the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.
Post-match, Bayley sits awkwardly in the ring with Sasha while Asuka celebrates.
Shawn Michaels gets an inset promo from what looks like his guest bedroom talking about how he wants Drew McIntyre to win.
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE Championship)
Orton bails immediately to the floor! Back inside he goes... and immediately he turtles up in the ropes and demands the break! Scuffling with the champ after he gets it, he heads back outside and catches McIntyre with boots when he comes back in! Going for the RKO early, denied, Drew knocks him down with a shoulder block, off the ropes and the drop down trips him up!
Another RKO attempt, still not happening, this time McIntyre takes a breather before getting back into the ring with a game smile on his face. Catch a kick, throwing Orton into the corner and lighting him up with punches and kicks! Sidestep a boot, another blocked RKO and this time Randy posts Drew shoulder-first!
Smashing McIntyre’s face into the announce table, the post, back to the table, clearing it he back suplexes Drew right into it! Whispering in his ear, Orton breaks referee Chad Patton’s count and goes back after McIntyre, suplexing him off the table and onto the floor! Back inside, grinding him down with the reverse chinlock and mat slamming him into the Garvin Stomp!
The Viper continuing to put boots to the champ, posing for the ThunderDome, trading punches, whip reversed and McIntyre hits a shoulder kneebreaker! Randy returns the favor with a kick to the knee and both men are down and out! Orton recovers a little quicker, punching away, off the ropes and Drew hits a spinning spinebuster!
Spinning toehold... Drew’s got the figure four leglock! Randy trying to relieve the pressure, reaching and stretching, sitting himself up, pawing at the Scotsman’s tree trunk legs before trying to roll it over and reverse the pressure! He manages to roll over but Drew rolls right through! Pulling back on the foot, Orton grabs Patton and thumbs McIntyre in the eye to break the hold!
Drew clubs him down with a chop that sounds out across the arena! Bleeding from the eye, McIntyre trades forearms from their feet and to their knees, uppercuts and chops, overhead belly-to-belly suplexes from the champ! Headed up top, Drew hits a diving lariat but he can’t capitalize! He manages a kip-up and finds his second wind!
Smashing Orton’s face into the turnbuckles, setting him up top, laying chops in as they jockey for position. Drew caught in the Tree of Woe, a trickle of blood running down Randy’s forehead... SPIDER BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPERPLEX FOR TWO! Underhooks, Randy blocks briefly but Drew gets it... FUTURE SHOCK CAN’T PUT ORTON AWAY!
Drawing Randy up by his ear, fireman’s carry, he slips out and passes Drew to the apron. Right hand, headed up top, nobody home on the lariat and the Viper hits the snap scoop powerslam for a nearfall! Following it up, McIntyre blocks the hanging DDT and hits the headbutt! Cactus Clothesline follows it up!
Back inside, Randy hits the hanging DDT! Not enough, lying in wait... DREW CATCHES HIM WITH A POWERBOMB! Duck the Claymore, duck the RKO, McIntyre thinks fast...
Drew McIntyre wins by pinfall with a backslide, retaining the WWE Championship.
We get a vignette for Keith Lee, who will be on Raw tomorrow night.

Braun Strowman (c) vs. Bray Wyatt (WWE Universal Championship Falls Count Anywhere Match)
Strowman immediately rams him into the corner and hammers him with shoulder thrusts, but the Fiend just laughs it off! Big Rock Bottom takes the monster down and he snaps Braun’s neck twice. Strowman to the floor, Wyatt follows after him and gets a toolbox out from under the ring, ramming it into his gut before smashing it across his back!
Braun coming back, clubbing Bray into the barricade and pouncing him right through it! A CHOKESLAM PUTS THE FIEND THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE! HE BLASTS HIM WITH THE STEEL STEPS AFTER HE GETS UP! Back inside, Stinger Splash, hoisting Bray up on his shoulders... THE FIEND KICKS OUT OF THE RUNNING POWERSLAM! They fight out to the floor and back to Gorilla, and Wyatt throws Strowman into the walls!
Sister Abigail connects... NO GOOD! Back out onto the stage, brawling desultorily down back towards ringside, and Bray grabs the Mandible Claw! Braun fights out and goes back inside for another running powerslam, but again Wyatt kicks out! Strowman heads out to the toolbox on the floor and grabs a box cutter!
He takes it back in the ring and starts cutting the mat up! He peels the foam pad up and exposes the raw boards of the ring! The Fiend pops up and hits a Rock Bottom on the exposed wood! Sister Abigail! ANOTHER ONE! IT’S OVER!
Bray Wyatt wins by pinfall with Sister Abigail on the exposed boards to win the WWE Universal Championship.
Post-match... ROMAN REIGNS IS BACK! HE BEATS THE HOLY HELL OUT OF THE FIEND! HE SPEARS BRAUN ON THE FLOOR, TOO! THE BIG DOG GETS A CHAIR AND BEATS THE MONSTER DOWN! Back inside with Wyatt, waiting for him to get up... SPEAR! He picks up the Universal Champion and says it’s always been him and Bray is just a freak in a mask who can’t handle the responsibility!
