WWE NXT TakeOver: XXX results - The clock runs out on Keith Lee’s title reign

Our third showing of the awesome Metallica-scored video package for Karrion Kross vs. Keith Lee took us into the main event of TakeOver: XXX. And big blows from the NXT champ had Kross reeling seconds after the bell.

The challenger rolled out to regroup with Scarlett, but the Lee didn’t want to give Kross time. That strategy worked out okay at first, but the Limitless One’s enthusiasm cost him when he miscalculated and ran shoulder first into the ring post. Karrion blasted his arm while it was draped over a barricade, and went to work inflicting pain on the damaged wing.

Lee fought back with one arm, and even turned an armbar into a pinning predicament at one point. That let Kross go for a triangle, which the champ powered out of by deadlifting his opponent and turning it into a running side slam.

The big men went toe-to-toe, and a nervous Scarlett watched as Lee made her man Bask in his Glory. But Kross would not stay down. He couldn’t hit his signature Doomsday Saito, but he did hit a series of kicks and a DDT. It still wasn’t enough, as the behemoths continued to battle.

Both men put the other down with lariats. Kross evaded Grizzly Magnum and finally snapped off a Saito suplex, but Lee kicked out.

The Kross Jacket followed, but where Karrion’s past opponents faded, the champ refused to pass out. He crawled to the ropes with the challenger on his back, and forced the break.

The champ fought back and hit a Spirit Bomb, but Kross kicked out. Lee went to the corner, but Karrion caught up. A battle atop the turnbuckles followed, setting up a super Doomsday Saito!
