Corey Graves left NXT for the main roster in 2016. Even then, he said he’d always consider himself “NXT’s Corey Graves.” With the brand celebrating a big anniversary tonight (Sat., Aug, 22), he’s going back to his roots. Triple H revealed during a Q & A with Kayla Braxton this afternoon that the Savior of Misbehavior will be part of the announce team for TakeOver: XXX.
Which probably explains this tweet from early this morning:
It’s been a while since I’ve been so excited about anything that I’m having trouble sleeping.
— Corey Graves (@WWEGraves) August 22, 2020
Graves was part of the commentary team for NXT’s first live Network event, Arrival, and Triple H said he “begged” to be a part of XXX.
If TakeOver has NXT’s usual announce team, this means Graves will be working with Mauro Ranallo. Graves was critical of Ranallo’s call at TakeOver: WarGames last November, which led to Mauro missing a few dates. Ranallo later said Corey’s criticism helped convince him that he couldn’t be on social media and take care of his mental health.
But hopefully everyone has discussed those issues in private, and is ready to rock ‘n’ roll on a big night for NXT.
Excited to hear Graves call a TakeOver again?
