Jeff Hardy wins the Intercontinental championship

You might think it unlikely that just two days before SummerSlam, WWE would book a title change on Friday Night SmackDown but you would be wrong, my friend. That’s exactly what the promotion did this evening, with Jeff Hardy overcoming a knee injury to defeat AJ Styles clean in the middle of the ring to become the new Intercontinental champion.

The knee injury came about earlier in the night, when both Hardy and Styles were fighting off RETRIBUTION and the latter took the opportunity to attack the former from behind. The story the rest of the night, and for the match itself, was Hardy continuing to overcome the obstacles in front of him.

Now he’s champion once more.
