Rumors were that WrestleMania 36 host Rob Gronkowski was a little nervous to do the leap off a ten-foot balcony which helped him secure the 24/7 championship. To calm the NFL All-Pros nerves, WWE’s Chairman & CEO Vincent Kennedy McMahon climbed over the balcony and did the spot himself.
The above clip from an upcoming Network special, WWE 24: WrestleMania: The Show Must Go On, has been released. It shows the scene, and Gronk doesn’t look all that nervous. He does want to practice a bit, and that’s where Vince steps in.
It’s an impressive flex from a guy who’s old enough to be most of our grandfather. It also allows his wrestlers to reiterate the line about how the boss won’t ask you to do anything he wouldn’t do himself, complete with footage of McMahon riding Shawn Michaels’ WrestleMania 12 zipline*.
The legend of Vince McMahon will never die.
* There is, of course, no footage of him or anyone doing Owen Hart’s Over The Edge entrance. Watch Dark Side of the Ring and read our Cain A. Knight on their Hart episode for more on that.
