As rumored, last night WWE ran a trial of their ThunderDome set-up in preparation for its live television launch on SmackDown tonight (Aug. 21). A select group were invited to test out the tech which will stream fans watching at home onto the 1000s of LED boards which surround the ring in Amway Center.
Despite reports that the company didn’t want anything to get out before the premiere on Fox, we’ve already seen several videos of the building being set-up. Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin also shared a bunch of pictures from Thursday’s trial on his Twitter. We can assume WWE will tweak some things based on how the trial went - I’d lower the contrast on the screens, or do something to keep the focus on the action with the fans as a backdrop instead of vice versa. But they give us an idea of what to expect, which should be a unique and pretty interesting pro wrestling television product.

Satin also wrote up some notes and thoughts from the test run on PWS here.
Thoughts? Does this make you more or less excited for the coming ThunderDome shows?
