The return of live sports has forced significant changes into AEW’s broadcast schedule over the next month, and it looks like NXT is about to follow suit.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that the Sept. 2 episode of NXT will be pre-empted due to the NHL playoffs:
“It would be in two weeks. NXT will be on Tuesday [Sept. 1], most likely, because the NHL will be pre-empting them on Wednesday [Sept. 2]. So they’re gonna be a day early. So AEW will have an unopposed Wednesday on September the 2nd, just like NXT had tonight.”
WWE has yet to confirm this reported schedule change for NXT.
Considering that AEW Dynamite was pre-empted last night due to the NBA, and now NXT will apparently be pre-empted by the NHL, it’s pretty much a lock that the Young Bucks will poke fun at this situation on the next episode of Being The Elite.
Will you be watching the NHL playoffs instead of AEW Dynamite on Sept. 2?
UPDATE: Cagesider Buried_Alive has brought to our attention that the USA Network schedule does indeed list NXT for the 8 PM ET time slot on Tuesday, Sept. 1, with NHL Hockey being listed at 8 PM ET on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
