According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, per the Tampa Bay Times, a man in South Carolina was arrested for attempted kidnapping. Police would not identify the victim but the Times notes that the home the man broke into is owned by current WWE star Sonya Deville.
According to the Times story, the man, named Phillip Thomas II, started planning this eight months ago and attempted to execute his plan in the early morning hours on Sun., Aug. 16, 2020.
That included cutting a hole through a patio screen, waiting for Deville to go to bed, and then entering through a door. This triggered an alarm, which led to Deville fleeing with a guest and contacting authorities, who found Thomas still on the scene when they arrived.
He reportedly admitted to planning to take Deville hostage. He was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief.
