According to various reports from the likes of the Wrestling Observer and PW Insider, WWE is currently planning on holding SummerSlam at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. There was initial talks of filming stuff on a beach, or a cruise, or in Atlantic City, New Jersey but all that fell apart and this is what the promotion has settled on.
What WWE wanted to accomplish with this, considering how much money the company has saved holding shows at the Performance Center, was, well, to get out of there. The Amway Center allows for more staging and production.
In fact, Insider is reporting WWE is looking at possibly holding future tapings there. That could include virtual fans much like we’ve seen in other sports. It’s at least possible we see as much at SummerSlam.
WWE has yet to make any official announcements on the location of one of its biggest pay-per-view events of the year but that’s expected to happen at any time.
