Among the bombs dropped in Raw’s electric closing scene on Mon., Aug. 10 was Randy Orton saying that Ric Flair viewed him as “the son you wish you had.”
It raised some eyebrows - this isn’t the first time WWE has scripted the tragedy of Ric’s son Reid into kayfabe. But probably because it was subtle, and part of a much stronger segment than Paige’s attack on Charlotte, it didn’t ruffle too many feathers.
The Nature Boy did address it in his first comment since Orton punting him in the head at the end of Raw, though.
I Wanted Last Night To Go Differently. What I Would Have Said Is I Don’t Know What Would’ve Happened If My Son Was In This Business. But I Do Know What Charlotte Has Done, And Like You Randy, She Is Much Better Than I Ever Was, Just Like You Have Surpassed Your Father. That’s it. pic.twitter.com/TNOsjSodVi

Still putting over the man who attacked him (and Charlotte, too, naturally)... that’s Ric Flair.
