SummerSlam will reportedly take place at the WWE Performance Center

WWE’s YouTube channel

Vince McMahon has apparently accepted the inevitable, and WWE will make SummerSlam the fifth main roster and second “Big 4” PPV to primarily be filmed at their Performance Center in Orlando.

That comes via PWInsider, whose report only specifies the Biggest Party of the Summer on Aug. 23. Presumably all four shows which were set to take place in Boston’s TD Garden this year - Fri., Aug. 21’s SmackDown, NXT TakeOver on Saturday, SummerSlam, and Raw on Mon., Aug. 24 - will happen at WWE’s Florida facility.

Mayor Marty Walsh warned promoters back in May not they wouldn’t be able to have large scale events in Boston until the fall at the earliest.

McMahon is said to be anxious to lead the charge back into shows with crowds. But with the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to rise in the United States (Florida topped 200,000 cases over the July 4 holiday weekend), he’s going to have a hard time finding venues to share that risk.

We’ll let you know when WWE makes this official. In the meantime... ready for more “cinematic” matches?
