Not unlike Gran Metalik and his always doomed quest to win the Intercontinental championship, Nikki Cross won a multi-person match to earn a crack at Bayley and the SmackDown women’s championship on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
And, just like Metalik, she fought valiantly but ultimately came up short, because she was always going to come up short.
After Cross failed to secure the three count with a backslide, Bayley used what our esteemed live blogger Claire called “an arm-trap headlock driver” — which sounds awesome, actually — to score the pinfall and the victory.
What was more interesting than Cross losing was her reaction to it.
After, Bliss attempted to console her in the ring and Nikki quite literally pushed her away before running off to the back.
