AJ Styles is still your Intercontinental champion

WWE had to hold off on Drew Gulak getting his shot at the Intercontinental championship on last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, but he was given that shot on this week’s show. Daniel Bryan, for whatever it’s worth, was not in attendance and instead was used via a Zoom video conference to say a few words at various points during the match.

Gulak was presented as a legitimate threat to Styles, but it was always clear he was never going to win the title. The best he was going to get would be a good, long match with the champion where he looked like he belonged.

That’s what he got.

AJ Styles is still your Intercontinental champion and it’s looking like Matt Riddle is going to be next in line.
