NXT continues to load up tonight’s card, including big women’s tag opener

WWE.com

AEW announced a full card for the July 29 Dynamite last Wednesday, while WWE has taken a slower approach to revealing their line-up for tonight’s NXT. Considering the episode was taped last Wednesday, it may be a strategic decision to dole out information throughout the week. We’ll see how it helps close the ratings gap when we get new numbers tomorrow.

In the meantime, they’ve announced three more matches during the day today, including a tag match featuring Women’s champ Io Shirai teaming with her last challenger Tegan Nox against a couple of heels with their eyes on the belt, Dakota Kai & Candice LeRae. This likely banger will kick off the show at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Kai and LeRae were both in the Fatal 4Way match Nox won to become #1 contender and face Shirai a couple weeks ago on night two of the Great American Bash. Dakota also kicked the Genius of the Sky’s head off after the July 15 main event.

Earlier today, WWE revealed that Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and Jake Atlas will face off in a showdown between two likely candidates to challenge Cruiserweight champ Santos Escobar. Tag titleholders Imperium will also be in action against unnamed opponents.

Those bouts join Roderick Strong vs. Johnny Gargano, a qualifier for TakeOver: XXX’s North American title Ladder Match pitting Finn Bálor, Dexter Lumis & Timothy Thatcher against one another, and NXT champ Keith Lee addressing Karrion Kross.
