WWE releases statement on the location of SummerSlam 2020

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to wreak havoc across the United States of America, there didn’t seem to be any way that WWE could host its SummerSlam 2020 event in the originally advertised location of TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

The company released a statement today acknowledging that the event will no longer take place in Boston:

In coordination with our local partners, government officials and TD Garden, WWE’s SummerSlam and related events will no longer take place in Boston. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. We are grateful to the city of Boston for their longstanding partnership and look forward to holding WWE events at TD Garden in the future.

SummerSlam will stream live on Sunday, August 23 at 7 pm ET on WWE Network and information regarding a new location for the event is forthcoming.

The final line of the statement leaves open the possibility that some location other than WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, might be under consideration for SummerSlam 2020. It doesn’t seem plausible for that to happen, but we’ll have to wait for further clarification from WWE once they have all the details straightened out.
