Ruby Riott’s been back since February, but until Mon., July 20, she hadn’t been victorious in any of her singles matches this year.
Her victory on this week’s Raw comes as Ruby is involved in a “will they or won’t they?” reunion storyline with former Riott Squad member Liv Morgan. And it’s been challenging to keep that storyline going, because Morgan hasn’t been around for the past month.
Ruby used a Raw Talk interview to keep the angle on our minds a couple weeks ago, and earlier today she posted a statement about her return to the win column on Twitter that doubles as a message to Liv.
“Monday night was a special night. My match against Peyton Royce might not have been for a title, or even an opportunity at one. But, it was my first singles win since November of 2019. When I came back from my shoulder surgeries, I thought things would be exactly how I left them, but they weren’t. Things changed... people changed and I didn’t know how to handle it, but the fire that was lit after Peyton disrespected Liv Morgan, was one that I’ve felt for months. Even if it was only for a few minutes. Liv, if you watched on Monday, I hope you were proud. Peyton, from now on, keep her name outta your mouth.”
I guess dropping your friend with an STO is the kind of thing you do when she changes and you don’t know how to handle it.
I don’t blame Morgan for having her guard up around Ruby, though. She was still coming to grips with Lana rejecting her love at the time, and then she had to deal with Riott’s misplaced aggression!?!?!
Don’t mind me. I’m just bitter this could mean Bianca Belair disappears back to Main Event again.
Still on board for a 2⁄3 Riott Squad reunion?
