Dolph Ziggler came to Monday Night Raw via trade — Friday Night SmackDown got AJ Styles — and immediately talked his way into a WWE championship match against Drew McIntyre at tonight’s (Sun., July 19, 2020) Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
To add some spice to a match that didn’t look terribly interesting otherwise, Ziggler was given his option of stipulation. He chose to keep it a secret until just before the match itself.
That stipulation? Extreme Rules, but only for Ziggler, and also McIntyre would lose the title if he did anything to get disqualified. Essentially, McIntyre would have to work a regular match and lose his title if he gets DQ’d while Ziggler could do whatever he wanted.
An actually smart stipulation from a heel! It also set up McIntyre to overcome something bigger than an opponent he would easily be able to dispose of otherwise.
Sure enough, he did.
Ziggler threw the kitchen sink at him, hitting his own finish, other people’s finish, a finisher on a chair, all of it. In the end, he ate a Claymore and was pinned like the rest of them.
