The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever already happened

WWE.com

And we don’t mean that in the “pshaw, there’s no way Randy Orton vs. Edge at Backlash will actually be ‘The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’ when _ fill in the blank here _ exists!” sense.

We literally mean WWE filmed Randy Orton and Edge’s “straight up wrestling match” for Sunday’s PPV before TakeOver: In Your House yesterday (June 7).

At least according to Wrestling Observer, and others. So how was it?

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer says he was told it was “really, really good” and that it was “two very smart workers working very hard to have the smartest match they possibly could under the circumstances.”

That’s welcome news, as not only will Orton & Edge be trying to live up to WWE’s hyperbolic promotion, but answering critics who were let down by their Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania 36. That nearly 37 minute long affair was Edge’s first singles match since coming out of retirement. The one that airs this Sunday (June 14) will be his second since 2011.
