Six weeks after his last appearance on Raw, Ricochet worked WWE’s flagship program last night (Mon., June 29).
There are a few reasons why the former United States champion could have been shifted over from Main Event to the main show. A COVID depleted roster. The need for enhancement talent to put over Bobby Lashley and his
Master Lock Full Nelson submission.
And also this...
Hard to sell fans on a WWE Network special about someone they haven’t seen since May 11.
But then, that’s probably the best sales pitch for a look at the last year of Ric’s career. How a fan favorite who was once the hottest free agent in wrestling went from feuding with AJ Styles & Samoa Joe for the red, white, and blue belt last summer shortly after his call-up from NXT, to being served up to Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, to now fighting for television time.
How will WWE present that long, winding road? Find out on July 5, I guess.
Then we’ll see if he’s on Raw next week.
