As first reported by Fightful, Velveteen Dream was involved in a car accident yesterday (Fri., June 26). WWE confirmed the former NXT North American champion - real name Patrick Clark - was taken to the hospital as a result, but released after receiving treatment.
Clark was written out of the main NXT title scene after his loss to Adam Cole at TakeOver: In Your House earlier this month. He did not appear on television this past Wednesday (June 24), after the In Your House fallout episode had teased the continuation of his storyline with Dexter Lumis. Lumis’ program with Undisputed ERA continued on this week’s show. At this point, it’s not clear whether Clark will be involved in NXT’s upcoming two week Great American Bash event.
While there’s no reported connection, this comes after the #SpeakingOut movement last week brought new stories of Clark engaging in inappropriate conduct with minors. After he was first accused of similar behavior in April, Clark issued a denial. Neither he nor WWE have commented on the new allegations, yesterday’s car accident, or his condition upon leaving the hospital.
