Sonya Deville has gotten a chance to shine on SmackDown this year, and she’s made the most of it. This week, there was an even a rumor WWE switched up their plans to keep her paired with Dolph Ziggler when all involved realized Deville didn’t need any help on the microphone.
There’s always a lot of talk in wrestling which performers aren’t getting opportunities fans feel they deserve. When it comes to WWE and its women’s division, those conversations usually focus on Charlotte Flair.
Earlier this week, we learned that Flair is going to be out of action for at least a little while. Given how well she’s done with the chances she’s been presented with, Sonya is someone who a lot of folks will say should be in line for time that otherwise might have been given to Flair.
The Pride Fighter will gladly take those opportunities. While she’s got nothing but respect for The Queen, Deville didn’t hesitate to shoot her shot when The Sun asked her about Flair:
“Yeah, I mean, it’s a two-fold question because it’s like, does she get opportunities because of who she is? Maybe, but does she deliver every single time? For sure. I’m the same way where anything you throw at me, I’m going to deliver and I think a lot of the women in the locker room are going to show up every single day if given the opportunities, they’re gonna work their butt off. I am certainly so you could throw anything at me. If I’m given the same opportunities as Charlotte Flair, I will be as big if not bigger than Charlotte.”
Sonya’s backed up her talk so far in her career. Why be humble now?
