Kurt Angle still might manage Matt Riddle someday

WWE Network

Our latest Rumor Round-up touched on Kurt Angle’s claim that he passed on the chance to manage Matt Riddle on the main roster.

It’s an interesting idea.

On the one hand, Riddle is a more than capable talker. His goofy-yet-arrogant badass stoner schtick may not work for everyone, but he doesn’t need help getting fans to like or hate him.

On the other, pairing the two would give The King of Bros a level of credibility with the larger WWE Universe that would otherwise take time to achieve. And we’d probably get some very funny stuff out it, as Riddle & Angle have more in common than their legitimate combat sports backgrounds. They both have great comedic abilities.

So what did our Olympic hero actually say about the situation. Here’s the more than a bullet point version, from Kurt to

“I think that Matt Riddle is going to be one of the faces of the [WWE], he has all the ability. His personality is great. At first, it’s a little odd. But once you get to know him, he’s very likable.”

“And that’s what he’s going to get from the fans. They’re going to love this kid. And he proves it in the ring. He’s phenomenal in the ring. There’s no doubt about that. But his whole bro gimmick thing works really well. And he’s going to do extremely well. WWE has offered me a job to manage him. Unfortunately, I turned it down due to a few different reasons, but I would have loved to manage him. It just wasn’t the right time.”

So if now wasn’t the right time, could there be a right time in the future?

“You never know [laughs].”

What do you think, Cagesiders? Is a Riddle/Angle pairing something you want WWE to keep in the “never say never” file? Or should it never be spoken of again?
