Charlotte Flair has defeated Raw women’s champion Asuka twice in non-title matches over the last few weeks, so it makes sense that a title match comes next. WWE has now made the match official, but it won’t be on pay-per-view. It’s actually happening next week (June 22) on Raw.
WWE’s announcement is hyping up this episode of Raw as a “Championship Monday” edition. We already know that Bayley and Sasha Banks will be defending the Women’s tag team titles against The IIconics, and the Street Profits are defending the Raw tag titles against the Viking Raiders.
Does this promotional slogan mean that Drew McIntyre will also be defending the WWE championship, and Apollo Crews will defend the United States championship as well? Most importantly, will R-Truth have to defend the 24/7 title?
We’ll have to wait for more announcements about additional title matches. For now, you can start biting your nails and hoping against hope (or for a Nia Jax run-in) that Asuka somehow finds a way to retain her gold against The Queen.
Unless of course you are a fan of Flair. In which case, you can go ahead and start practicing your best “Woooooo!”
Who do you think will walk out of Raw as the women’s champion?
