Nia Jax and Asuka went to a double count out in their Raw women’s championship match at Backlash last night (June 14, 2020) in Orlando, so WWE went ahead and booked the rematch for this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
The match was moving along just fine when, and Jax may have even had an edge of sorts, when she decided to put her hands on the referee. He responded by feigning like he was going to disqualify her. Asuka took advantage and rolled Nia up, which led to the referee deciding the right call would be a fast count.
Three quick slaps of the mat later and Asuka is still your Raw women’s champion.
To remove any doubt about the nature of the fast count, which may have been debatable, Tom Phillips called it out as such. It’s now a part of the storyline, which is quickly becoming the fact that Jax continues to fail to win the title in new and interesting ways.
