In the midst of a show with some truly strange, downright idiotic booking, The Miz & John Morrison’s music hit for yet another truly strange, downright idiotic match. After weeks of getting beat up by Universal Champion Braun Strowman, they were given a shot at his title! Not only that, they were given the advantage when it was made a 2-on-1 handicap match!
Incredible.
It went down at Backlash tonight (Sun., June 14, 2020) in Orlando, and, well, they introduced a wrinkle before the show. It was made clear that if Miz pinned Strowman he would be champion and if Morrison pinned Strowman, he would be champion.
You know where this is headed.
They teamed up, had Strowman beat, and then, at the last second, Miz pulled Morrison off because he didn’t actually want his partner to be the Universal champion. Strowman responded by choke slamming Miz and then hitting the Running Power Slam on Morrison to score the pin and keep his title.
Yep.
