WWE Backlash 2020 results: Asuka vs. Nia Jax ends in a double countout

Fighting Raw Women’s champ Asuka revisited a feud from her NXT days at Backlash. Would she be able to overcome the power and size advantage of challenger Nia Jax on Sun., June 14 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando?

The Empress of Tomorrow took the fight to Jax at the bell, and tried to target Nia’s left arm. But she took damage along the way, and almost lost her title via pinfall after a sitout powerbomb and the Jax-hammer.

After that move, however, Jax made the mistake of taunting Asuka about her tag partner Kairi Sane. The champ fired back and got a nearfall of her own after a hip attack.

That begun a back and forth that left both women on the floor, where Nia broke free of an armbar by swing the champ into the barricade. But neither woman made it back to the ring before the referee’s ten count.

At least Asuka got the last laugh.

That’ll help when Charlotte Flair gets added to the Triple Threat at Extreme Rules, right?
